Abstract in English:
Coworking is a contemporary phenomenon that has caught the eye of many in search of ‘the future of work’. Its lead protagonists purport to offer innovative opportunities through collaborative communities, which appeal to those who have lost faith in conventionalorganisations’ and traditional institutions’ ability to lead positive change in society. Through critical ethnographic narrative, I aim to make sense of the function of community symbolismin coworking. Using critical social theory, I find organisational influences on community to identify coworking as a key structural component of contemporary social conservatism.
